2008: week 2

Well that is the second week of the year over and done with. No idea what week 3 will bring. Perhaps I'll manage to make it through an entire show without shaving my head or trying to wax my chest with selotape, you never know.

Anyway, thought I'd have a wee look back at 2007 now that it is over. Besides being a year which made me very cynical and/or about many many issues (Team Renault McCann, the DWP, the smoking ban, murder in the name of religion, racial stereotyping, the cult of celebrity, straightedge 14 year olds lecturing on the internet etc..) it was also a year full of interesting music and movies.

Soulwax renewed my interest in dance music, Dillinger Escape Plan renewed my interest in heavy riffing guitar noise, Les Carter and Matt Thurlow renewed my interest in listening to the radio. All in all that was quite a good year when you look back at how horrible the charts have been over the past few years.

Anyway, this wee show has now been running for several months. That surprises me more that it surprises anyone else. It has also caused me to work on a lot more music of my own, also a huge surprise. So over the next few weeks I shall work on creating more new tracks and possibly think about putting together a live band to try and bring these undoubtedly odd tracks to life on a stage. And with any luck my battle with the DWP shall come to an end on February 26th. Actually, it will definitely come to an end then but fingers crossed it'll be a good outcome.
